Abandon all hope Here is the back of the control box I built. I was able to get a bunch of 12V-DC DPDT switches w/ built in 12V-DC lamps cheep. Cutting the square holes for them all wasn't much fun but they were cheep.
Abandon all hope Here is the switch pannel and an old computer power supply. I used the power supply to power all the 12V-DC and 5V-DC stuff. I noticed something kinda funny with the power supply. If it was kinda cold it didn't want to turn on unless it detected enough of a load on a couple of its outputs. I used some screws as terminals to hook up all the control lines to the effects.
Abandon all hope Here is one of the small grey air cylinders broken down. I used electrical conduit. springs, washers, wood dowel and some nylon spacers. When assembled I used one spring in the base to soften the blow when the dowel came back down. The spacers just barely fit on the dowel so I sanded it a little where I wanted the one spacer to slide. I drilled a small hole in one spacer and into the dowel, then put a tiny screw into the holes securing it with a drop or two of super glue. When done, it was like a small shock absorber on the dowel. I only built 3 of these this year and they all worked great at pretty low pressures. They were not enough to make anything huge pop-up, but were able to move smaller things realy fast.
Abandon all hope Here is the cylinder assembled. I used a reducer fitting to go from the 1/2" thred to 1/4" thred and then to some small 1/4" tubing.
WARNING!! I am NOT suggesting you use this design or any of my designs in your haunt. I am simply saying this is what I did. I took the risk for my haunt, if you build any of these you take the risk.
